Our Facades (Just a Face)

When I wrote this song, I had a feeling in mind rather than a story. The feeling of being an anonymous person, nobody notice you and whatever you say doesn’t matter. The struggle of wanting to be a part of a context, memories of a time when we thought that we could become whatever we wanted to be and now, we’re nothing more than a face in the back of someone’s head.

I spent and extra amount of time on this song. I chased a Red Hot Chili Peppers inspired sound, naked and rough around the edges. The guitar tracks were mostly improvised and the solo was just me playing around with “rec” on when my daughter came into the room. The chords are basically the same throughout the entire song with a few variations and change in intensity and “drive”. Switching between minor and major on the same chords gave an interesting effect.
